Moments after the Dallas Cowboys suffered a season-ending loss to the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday night, quarterback Tony Romo collapsed in the shower, creating a frantic scene in the locker room.

“Shocked” players started yelling for help and pushing back reporters after Romo suddenly fell, likely due to a rib injury incurred late in the game, reports Monday’s Dallas Morning News.

A stretcher was brought in by the medical team, but Romo was helped to his feet and able to walk into the training room.

When asked about the incident later, Romo, 28, told the paper, “Um, you know, I was just a little banged up, I guess.”

He added: “I’ve got to play better. The team’s got to play better. We didn’t play good this December. That’s obviously the story.”

Romo’s girlfriend Jessica Simpson “rushed to his side as soon as she found out that Tony got hurt,” according to a source close to the singer.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo may be feeling the pain from torn cartilage in his ribs – not to mention his team’s blistering loss to the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend – but he does have one thing going for him: Jessica Simpson.

The athlete’s girlfriend “rushed to his side as soon as she found out that Tony got hurt,” a source told PEOPLE after reports surfaced that Romo had collapsed in the shower of the team’s locker room after the game Sunday.

“She got on a red eye flight right when she found out, and arrived at 5 a.m. [that] morning,” the source added.

As for Romo, 28, the torn cartilage popped out of place twice during the game and again afterward, which is what caused him to collapse, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Chicago Sun-Times: One of my best Dallas snoops just happened to be in the original Neiman Marcus in Big D, shortly after Jessica Simpson and main man and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo were in the store checking out big sparklers — the kind women wear on their left-hand ring finger.

I’m hearing the couple are talking about a winter wedding. Dallas fans can relax. The happy twosome are said to be planning to tie the knot well after the end of the NFL season, including the Super Bowl — should the Cowboys make it to the big game in Tampa, Fla.

Forget about Triple-A. Got a flat? Call Tony Romo!

Known for his heroics on the football field, the Dallas Cowboy star played hero to Bill and Sharon White on September 7, when the two found themselves stranded with a flat tire.

The Irving, Texas, couple were trying in vain to mend the tire when Romo – fresh off a flight from Cleveland where he and his team had beaten the Browns earlier in the day – pulled up.

“All of a sudden I hear a voice say, ‘Do you need help?’” Sharon, 53, says.

Without realizing it was Jessica Simpson’s beau who had come to their aid, the couple and the football star went at the flat tire together. After fiddling with the air compressor switch on the car jack, the tire inflated.

“At that point, I looked at him and thought, ‘Dang, he looks familiar,’” Sharon says. “I go, ‘You know what? You look like Tony Romo.’ He looked down and just gave me that boyish smile he’s got. Then he said, ‘That’s because I am.’”

“I just screamed as loud as I could,” Sharon says. “Then I grabbed him and hugged him.”

Her husband Bill, 61, who had missed the Dallas-Cleveland game while on the road, asked Romo what had happened to his bandaged chin. When Romo started explaining, “I stopped him and said, ‘Don’t tell me! I don’t want to know!” says Bill, who had recorded the game at home.

With the situation under control, Romo left the scene. But the starstruck Whites realized they’d forgotten to say thank you.

Now, if she had the chance, “I’d thank [Tony] so much for stopping,” Sharon says. “I love him to death, he’s a great guy. And I hope I didn’t bust his eardrum!”

With his first regular season game coming up this weekend, Jessica’s man Tony wasn’t by his girl’s side, but apparently he’s been busy promoting her album to his teammates, handing out signed CDs, and listening to it constantly. He’s not the only smitten kitten, however; as we all read, Jess called him the love of her life last week, and she apparently also refers to him as FBD (future baby daddy) to her friends.

It’s stories like this that give the phrase “arrested at 4 a.m. outside a South Beach Club” a bad name. Miami Beach police charged Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor with disorderly conduct yesterday outside the awesomely named “Club Cristal”. Taylor wasn’t jailed, but instead pinky-swore that he would appear in court at a future date. No word yet on whether in doing so, he injured his pinky.

Also unknown are the details surrounding the arrest, as the police department’s record division is closed for Labor Day. Apparently they figured if dry cleaners and accountants get the day off, so should they.

In an impressive act of team solidarity, Taylor’s former teammate Jimmy Smith was also arrested this weekend for driving under the ol’ influence. Police found marijuana roaches and an open beer in his car.

Update: It appears that Taylor was not arrested, but merely given a citation. More details if/when they emerge.

Uh oh… looks like Tony is become less and less available!

TMZ reports that Tony Romo bought a new home in Dallas, TX.  And guess who will be in charge of renovating it?  His girlfriend Jessica Simpson!  Sounds like things are getting serious….
